Discussed Letter article

  • Discussed the article proposal feedback from EOS. Agreed that while some of the feedback was useful, EOS was not interested and not worth pursuing further. We decided to expand the article by:
    1. Tying in the importance of writing an unbiased recommendation letter on the scientific community, and
    2. Providing small bits of our good/bad letters as examples for best practices.
  • We discussed possible publication locations. In no particular order of preference, we settled on:
    1. Earth and Space Science (Astrid is an editor, and Mack will discuss the suitability with her)
    2. Frontiers in Astronomy and Space Science (Alexa is heading a DEI special issue that would be appropriate)

Discussed Outreach

  • Angeline had previously brought up the idea of having cards for ELSP that we could hand out at meetings over email with the group. Alexa thought that she would be able to print out the cards and design them. Alexa confirmed this during the meeting and sent out a draft of the cards to everyone.

Discussed Repositories

  • Angeline brought up the two existing pull requests that are awaiting review in the DirectorResources repository.

Tasks for next meeting (25 April 2022 09:30 ET, 15:30 GMT):

  • Angeline - Write up minutes, provide GitHub support, add to Letter article, and tackle outstanding issues.
  • Alexa - Print business cards, promote ELSP at NASA/AGU, add to Letter article, and tackle outstanding issues.
  • Kate - Add to Letter article and tackle outstanding issues.
  • Mack - Add to Letter article, talk with Astrid about the Letter article, start a feedback from from submittors, and tackle outstanding issues.
  • John - Add to Letter article, provide meeting links, and tackle outstanding issues.
