I maybe should have done more than 1 commit for all this, but I didn't, so oh well.
The little space between the nav links that doesn't change colors on hover will legitimately haunt me until the day I figure out why it's happening or die trying.

on the final layout assignment, there's a little space between the buttons that doesn't change color on hover. It's some kind of empty space after the right border I think but I don't know how to make it go away. I just say this because I assume you're going to see it and I want you to know that I know about it and that I hate it.
