Looks like we ran into some issues with CI. Here's one message I saw:

Error:      class file has wrong version 61.0, should be 55.0
Error:      Please remove or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory of the classpath.

ah, /etc/alternatives set to JDK11 for java, but 17 for javac ;)
