AERS (AI Execution Record Specification) is a vendor-neutral specification for immutable, interoperable execution records across heterogeneous intelligent systems.
This repository contains the organisational governance, documentation standards, and global AI-native guidance for the Virtual Brain Foundation and the AERS specification ecosystem.
It functions as the coordination and alignment layer for:
- Governance documentation
- Organisational memory and context
- Contributor guidance (human and autonomous)
- Global AI alignment instructions
- Long-term specification continuity

This repository does not contain the AERS specification itself.
Core technical and formal work resides in:
aers-spec— Formal specification, ontology, and protocol documentation
The .github repository exists to provide governance coherence, documentation discipline, and cognitive continuity across the ecosystem.
The organisation is intentionally structured to support:
- Human contributors
- Autonomous AI contributors
- Hybrid human–AI collaboration
Documentation is designed to be:
- Machine-readable
- Semantically stable
- Governance-aligned
- Framework-neutral
Instructional artefacts such as:
copilot-instructions.mdAGENTS.md(in core repositories)AI_CONTEXT.md(in core repositories)
ensure consistent contribution behaviour across both human and autonomous agents.
All organisational and specification materials adhere to strict neutrality:
- Vendor Neutral
- Framework Neutral
- Cognition Neutral (symbolic, statistical, hybrid)
- Environment Agnostic (cloud, edge, robotics, and future off-world systems)
No single AI framework, provider, or implementation paradigm is privileged within the AERS ecosystem.
| Document | Purpose |
|---|---|
| VIRTUALBRAIN_MEMORY_BANK.md | Long-term contextual memory (high-level, public-safe) |
| AERS_CONTEXT.md | Specification grounding and conceptual framing |
| NAMING_CONVENTIONS.md | Taxonomy, terminology, and semantic discipline |
| ROADMAP_3Y.md | Public strategic direction and evolution outlook |
To preserve long-term neutrality and architectural clarity, this repository is not intended to be:
- A product repository
- A tooling implementation layer
- A framework-specific integration guide
- A marketing or promotional hub
Its sole purpose is governance, documentation integrity, and ecosystem alignment.
Specification Phase: Experimental (v0.x)
Maturity Focus: Ontology stability, semantic consistency, and governance-first evolution.
AERS prioritises long-term interoperability and specification durability over short-term feature velocity.
All public materials are intentionally:
- Framework neutral
- Cognition neutral
- Vendor neutral
- Forward-compatible with future intelligent systems
This includes support for:
- Symbolic AI systems
- Statistical AI systems
- Hybrid cognitive architectures
- Autonomous robotics
- Distributed multi-agent environments
- Future autonomous and space-deployed systems
