@sphinx-doc/developers any interest in this? renovate is a nicer experience than dependabot (mainly the 'dependency dashboard feature), much more customisable, and has better support for Python (dependabot doesn't support lockfiles at all, security scanning for UV is currently broken, etc. etc.) |

easiest way to enable renovate after merging this config is to install the renovate 'Mend' app.
alternatively, it can be added as a github action - https://github.com/renovatebot/github-action
this is motivated by the absolute tyre fire that dependabot support for python lockfiles has been. In nearly 2 years they've not been able to get it to work correctly.
