Hide the initialization of the base node inside the node initializer lists by a macro. As such, consistently enforce flags are set properly.

Hide the initialization of the base node inside the node initializer lists by a macro. As such, consistently enforce flags are set properly.
Beyond being a fairly large reduction in visible code size (1.4K LOC) it also serves as the beginnings of an effort to make it easier to potentially template out the initializers in service of #3746.
