Previously, the test build contained a global compatibility module. Now, that module is only applied where it is (still) needed. The goal is to smooth this module out of existence.
This PR also starts that process by moving
extras ...support into Batching itself.It also fixes custom introspection in batching runtime (which previously only worked because of the global patch in test).
