From smartphones to smart robots — the TCRT5000 proximity sensor makes tech responsive and aware.
This tiny infrared sensor detects the presence or distance of nearby objects by bouncing IR light off surfaces — just like how your phone knows when it’s near your ear during a call 📱🤖
The TCRT5000 is widely used in:
- Line-following robots
- Object detection systems
- Touchless interfaces
- Mobile devices for screen on/off sensing
The MH-Series module is based on the TCRT5000 infrared emitter–receiver pair and offers both digital and analog outputs:
- Analog output (A0) provides a variable voltage that changes with object distance — great for precise measurements.
- Digital output (D0) triggers high or low depending on a threshold you set using the onboard potentiometer, making it easy to fine-tune sensitivity for your application.
This flexibility makes the MH-Series ideal for everything from line-tracking robots to obstacle detection and automation systems.
- ESP32 (38 Pin) – The powerful microcontroller at the heart of the demo, handling sensor input and display output.
- OLED Display – Visual feedback for real-time sensor readings.
- TCRT5000 MH-Series – The star of the show! An infrared emitter and phototransistor combo for precise proximity sensing.
