Closing in favor of #499 which is created from an org branch (not a fork) so that CI can access org secrets for NPM authentication. |

This was added as a workaround for PR #498 which was from a fork and could not access org secrets. This PR is from an org branch so the secret is available and the step passes — the workaround is no longer needed and defeats the intended gate.
