A synchronized update that never ends freezes its pane until 2 MiB arrive #173

Closed

Description

@nyxene

A program that starts a synchronized update (CSI ? 2026 h) and never ends it freezes its own pane's screen until about 2 MiB more output arrives.

What happens

nerd never ends a synchronized update when its timeout passes: alacritty_terminal keeps buffering until its byte limit, so the pane shows nothing new in the meantime. Other panes and the server are not affected.

Wanted

When the synchronized update's timeout passes, nerd ends it (stop_sync) and draws what arrived, as other terminals do.

    Closed without a retrospective, on purpose: Fixed by #182 (a synchronized update that never ends is cut at a time and size limit, so the pane is drawn again); the work was done inside a private security review, whose account goes with its advisory.
