Raspberry Pi setup:

After burning Raspbian image, modify SD card directly before first boot:

create ssh file in /boot
edit /etc/network/interfaces, /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

First boot:

change password, hostname
sudo apt-get install emacs-nox git apt-transport-https screen
expand filesystem

Finally:

backup image
