MAITRI-AI is an assistant powered by artificial intelligence. It works with your voice to understand what you say. It analyzes your emotions and your face. It can talk back to you naturally. All of this happens in one easy-to-use system.
The app has several parts that work together:

- Converts text back to speech.
- Understands conversations.

- Shows you an easy interface.
- Uses Docker for smooth operation (mostly for advanced users).
This setup helps you interact naturally and get instant answers or assistance.

- Emotion Detection: Recognizes feelings from your voice and face.

Before you download and run MAITRI-AI, check that your computer meets these conditions:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or newer.
- Processor: Intel or AMD, 64-bit, 2 GHz or faster.
- Memory (RAM): At least 8 GB.
- Disk Space: Minimum 1 GB free space.
- Microphone and Webcam: For speech and face features.
- Internet Connection: Required for initial setup and updates.
- Docker: Optional, for advanced users who want to run services in containers.
You need to download the app package first.

Once on the page, look for the latest stable release. The file you want should have a name similar to MAITRI-AI-Setup.exe or MAITRI_AI_Windows.zip.

If you downloaded an
.exefile (installer):- Double-click the file.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Choose the installation folder or accept the default.
- Wait for the installation to complete.

If you downloaded a
.zipfile:- Right-click the zip and select "Extract All".
- Choose a folder to extract the contents.
- Open the extracted folder and find
MAITRI-AI.exe. - Double-click it to start the app.
- When the app runs, it may ask permission to use your microphone and webcam.
- Click "Allow" or "Yes" so the app works correctly.
- The app will check your system and load its services.
- This may take a few minutes on the first run.
- You will see a welcome screen with usage tips.
- Click the microphone button on the screen.
- Speak clearly into your microphone.
- The app will type what you say.
- It will also analyze how you feel based on your tone.
- The app will reply with voice and text.
- Listen to the AI's voice or read responses on screen.
- You can continue the conversation naturally.
- Position yourself in front of your webcam.
- The app reads your facial expressions in real time.
- This helps it understand your mood better.
- Click the gear icon to open settings.
- Adjust microphone and speaker volume.
- Choose between voice options for the AI.
- Turn face or emotion detection on or off.
- Manage startup behavior (run at Windows start, etc.).

App does not open:
- Check that your Windows is updated.
- Try running as administrator (right-click > Run as administrator).

Microphone not working:
- Make sure your microphone is plugged in.
- Check privacy settings in Windows: Settings > Privacy > Microphone > Allow apps to access.

Webcam issues:
- Confirm your webcam is connected and not used by another app.
- Ensure Windows privacy settings allow camera use.

The app seems slow:
- Close other heavy programs.
- Restart your PC and try again.
If you have Docker installed and want to use it, MAITRI-AI supports running services in separate containers. This is for users comfortable using the command line.
- Install Docker Desktop for Windows if you do not have it.
- Download the app release as described above.
- Open the Command Prompt or PowerShell.
- Follow the Docker setup instructions in the included documentation or the
README-Advanced.mdfile.
