Addresses #178
Let me know if you'd prefer a cleaner commit history, I ran into a challenge with recursive descent
..in combination with liftingnulls. It made things very messy to try to support that and I'm not sure where I would even expect the "correct"nulls to be, so I made it explicitly incompatible.
