Your personal AI coding buddy right inside VS Code. Ask questions, get code reviews, generate code snippets, and debug your work-all powered by Google Gemini. others providers like local llm and openAI coming soon.

Getting Started

1. Install the Extension

Search for "codelamp" in VS Code Extensions and click Install.

2. Get a Free/Paid Google Gemini API Key

3. Add Your API Key

  • Click the CodeLamp icon in the Activity Bar (left sidebar)
  • Paste your API key in the settings
  • Done! Start chatting

Built-In Tools - Features

  • Check Crypto Prices - Ask for the current price of Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.
  • Get Time & Date - Ask for the current time
  • Read/Write Files - Let it read files in your project or save code to files
  • List Files - Ask CodeLamp to show you what files are in your project

Privacy & Security

Your API key is stored securely in VS Code and never leaves your computer except when talking to Google's API. Your conversations are yours, we don't save them anywhere else.
