Summary

  • Adds a community contribution in 50_contrib/ documenting NEOS (Neural Field Operating System), which takes context engineering concepts — fields, attractors, resonance, symbolic residue — and builds a working OS architecture around them
  • Includes a complete case study (software quality discipline) where 69 software engineering patterns self-organized into 5 eigenvectors, 7 attractor basins, and 1 universal invariant through neural field dynamics — none of which was encoded in the inputs
  • Maps this repository's biological progression (atoms → neural fields) to NEOS's architecture (inject → collapse), showing how field-level context design enables emergent structure that prompt-level thinking cannot achieve

Context

NEOS implements a shell (nf) with ~40 commands for cognitive computing: inject meaning, run dynamics, observe emergence, collapse to insight — plus git-style versioning for reasoning states. The core substrate is a neural field governed by a PDE where patterns resonate through a semantic kernel and self-organize into stable attractors.
