Welcome

Motion Studio

We're thrilled to introduce you to the world of drones on our first Quad PopUp activity.

This is a guided hands-on experience, so feel free to ask any available instructors questions as you work through the activity. We hope you have a great time!

Safety First

Caution

If you see this icon, don't skip it - read it!

Don't let their size fool you — small drones can still be dangerous if proper precautions aren't followed.

Keep an eye out for the three major hazards:

  • Power – Handle batteries and connections with care, as punctured batteries can catch fire. In the unlikely event this happens, step back immediately and alert your instructor.

  • SolderingDo not touch the metal parts of the soldering iron — it gets extremely hot. Always hold it by the insulated handle.

  • Blades – Keep fingers, face and hair away from spinning propellers. Long hair should be tied back.

Getting Started

This activity has three parts:

Part 1: Build Your Quadcopter by assembling the 3D printed frame, attaching the motors, and connecting the electronics, including the flight controller and power system.

Part 2: Connect Your Quadcopter to the BetaFlight software, which serves as the flight control interface. From there, connect the radio controller, and use the software to tune the flight control settings.

Part 3: Control Your Quadcopter: it's time to play! We have some suggestions to get you started, but feel free to choose your own path.
