This now leads to a different error when removing the point layer in the tracking annotator. Let us focus on SAM2 integration and updating the tracking functionality afterwards rather than these obscure errors. |

This PR builds on an old PR (#943), to address a specific limitation @constantinpape encountered (see #943 (comment)). We aim to fix #1009 here.
Can you try to check this behaviour and tell me if this fixes our previous observation? (i.e. multiple times deleting the point prompt layer)
