Hi @sccalabr! Sincere apologies on the delay here. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to give this a real review, although it's very clear that you put a lot of thought and effort into this solution.

I think you are already getting Hacktoberfest credit for your contribution here: #128, but I will add the accepted label to this PR to ensure you receive swag, and review the code in detail as soon as I can. Because of the way holiays and vacation are stacking up, that will likely not be until early December.
