This repo still configures kotlinGradle { ktlint("0.50.0") } in build.gradle.kts:22-26, but Spotless 8.1.0+ removed support for ktlint versions below 1.0. In the checked CI path (.github/workflows/ci.yml runs ./gradlew spotlessCheck on every push/PR), bumping only the Spotless plugin to 8.4.0 will make formatting checks fail until the ktlint version/config is migrated in the same change.
