Although most of these variables shouldn't contain spaces or other special characters in practice, it's safer to quote them. This conflicts with PRs #26 #24 and #9, I already have a fixed merge of #26 ready, #24 is equivalent to #26, and I'll rebase #9 or this one, whichever gets merged first :)
