Current behavior:
The reaction MAR06980 which describes the reaction: 3-hydroxy-N6,N6,N6-trimethyl-L-lysine [c] + H+ [c] ⇒ 4-trimethylammoniobutanal [c] + glycine [c], but associated with gene SHMT2. According to this NC paper in 2024, SHMT1 (cytosol) has a higher kcat values and can also catalyze this reaction.
Expected feature/value/output:
Thus, I would suggest to revise the GPR for MAR06980 to SHMT1, since this reaction is a cytosol rxn.
While the mitochondrial version for this rxn MAR01371, already has the correct GPR with the SHMT2 (mitochondria)
