MSPGeekCon TTRPG Planning and Organization
A community TTRPG event produced by Rising Tide Group for MSPGeekCon — now in its fourth year.
Each year at MSPGeekCon, Rising Tide Group produces a unique tabletop role-playing game one-shot built around the Gootsocra — an original race of bird-people created as a love letter to Goots, MSPGeek's beloved goose mascot, and the Aarakocra of D&D lore.
The Gootsocra are smart, scrappy, and take no $#!%. They navigate the world as a group. Sound familiar?
Every year's adventure is a standalone story: a new theme, new mechanics, new chaos. No prior TTRPG experience required. Beginners, veterans, and everyone in between share the same table — and that's exactly the point.

The Gootsocra one-shot is the centerpiece of a broader game room experience that runs throughout MSPGeekCon.
The one-shot kicks off the first night of the conference, immediately following the opening reception, a great way to break the ice, shake off the conference-brain, and start building the community before the educational sessions even begin.
Beyond the one-shot, the game room is home to a curated library of board games and tabletop games available to all attendees throughout the event. Drop in between sessions, decompress after a long day, or finally learn that game you've been meaning to try. The game room is intentionally lower-key than the main conference floor: no loud music, no dizzying lights — just people making things together.
The goal has always been the same: give technically-minded people permission to play, and watch what happens when they do.
