Every Spring semester, elections are held for all officer positions. Special elections are held if an individual holding a position is incapacitated for a semester, graduates, or there is an empty position that can be held by a present voting member not currently holding a position.

Electoral Procedure

  1. Upsilon makes a motion to begin yearly elections. The motion must be seconded by a voting member.
  2. Officers are elected in the following order:
    1. President
    2. Vice President
    3. Secretary
    4. Treasurer
    5. Membership Chair
    6. Public Relations Chair
    7. Planning Chair
    8. Rules Chair
  3. For each position, voting members nominate candidates.
  4. Candidates give a short speech highlighting their qualifications for the position.
  5. Candidates are dismissed by the voting members.
  6. The President, or most senior voting member, opens the floor for discussion.
  7. Members present cases for or against candidates.
  8. A vote by hand count is held, the candidate with the most votes wins.
  9. In the event of a tie, debate continues and another vote is held.
  10. Candidates are readmitted and the results are announced.
