Initial sphinx docs additions. Includes an extra python file to write .rst files automatically (which sphinx doesn't do). Requires some more clean up of existing code to prevent warnings, but generates everything fine.
Once the pull is completed I can set up a GitHub pages site which will host all the generated .html doc files. We can put a link to the site in the GitHub readme.
