Sol is not solely the work of one person. Sol is a proof of concept program created by students of the Fall 2014 Applied Cyberinfrastructure Concepts (ACIC) course at the University of Arizona.
Sol calculates the Effective Energy and Mass Transfer of a digital elevation model, based on the Vadose Zone Journal article by Rasmussen et al. (2015) Quantifying Topographic and Vegetation Effects on the Transfer of Energy and Mass to the Critical Zone
This research was supported in part by the U.S. National Science Foundation Grants EAR- 0724958630 and EAR-1331408 provided in support of the Catalina-Jemez Critical Zone Observatory.
