A Tamagotchi-like video game built for Android phones.
Pettomato is a game about taking care of, and battling with, a variety of pets. How well you take care of them affects their mood, as well as how effective they are against their opponents. Pets need consistent care to remain happy and healthy.
Once your pet is well prepared, it can participate in battles with other pets. Winning these battles will earn you coins, which can be spent on nurturing your pet. Items can also be used in battle to improve your chances of success. When your enemy is defeated, a stronger one will take its place.
Use your rewards to level up your pet and increase its strength, allowing it to defeat stronger and stronger enemies.
If an enemy proves to be too strong for your pet to handle, you will be defeated. Being defeated means you will face a weaker enemy the next time you step in the arena.
You can purchase new pets and train them to make a powerful team. If one pet is struggling to defeat an enemy, swap to a less tired pet to finish the job.
This app was built using Android Studio Chipmunk 2021.2.1 and Kotlin 1.6.21.
A full list of this app's dependencies with their versions is located here.
Tested using an emulated Pixel 5 smartphone running Android API level 32 (Sv2).
I made this app as a fun project to teach myself about mobile app development. I consider this project mostly completed, but I will continue to make occasional bug fixes and improvements. I hope to use the experience I've gained making this project to create robust and commercially viable mobile apps in the future. If I eventually reach a level of quality that I find acceptable, I might list this app on the Google Play store at some point.
