Ryo 2026.1 [Alpha Release]
Software Release Notes:
Dear Ryo users,
We are thrilled to announce the release of Ryo alpha-2026.1. This update marks a massive leap from our previous trial versions. We have moved beyond a basic MVP to a robust, highly functional alpha! The core editing pipeline is now fundamentally complete and stable, empowering you to create, edit, and manage your game assets with unprecedented reliability.
What's New & How to Use
Robust Volume (File) Management
- Smart File Handling: You can now safely Create, Open, Clone, Rename and Compact volumes.
- Conflict Prevention: If you accidentally try to open the same volume file twice, Ryo will now smartly prompt you to either open it as a copy, locate the already opened one, or cancel.
- Safe Closing: Unsaved volumes are now strictly protected. Closing an unsaved volume will explicitly prompt you to save, preventing accidental data loss!
Powerful Item Workflows
- Full Item Control: The days of "view only" are over. You can now Rename, Clone, and Delete items directly from the Tree View or Tabs.
- Import & Export: You can now Export items to external files (JSON) and Import them back to replace existing data or create completely new items!
- Tab & Array Enhancements: Tabs can now be dragged and sorted. Array editors also feature new drag handles for safer, conflict-free reordering.
Editing Experience
- Unsaved Indicators: A
*symbol(or a dot) will clearly indicate unsaved changes on both Tabs and Volumes. - Improved Dialogs: Creating and renaming files/items now uses a unified, intuitive dialog with smart duplicate-name checking and optional overwrite toggles.
Current Limitations
While the core features are solid, we are still polishing the UI/UX infrastructure (our upcoming P1 phase). You might notice the following:
- Dialog & Viewport Constraints: Extremely long or wide content might occasionally cause dialog boxes to overflow the screen. Scrollable constraints are actively being worked on.
- Keyboard Shortcuts & Overrides: Global keyboard shortcuts are not supported yet. Also, strict prevention of accidental browser refreshes (like pressing
F5) is still under development. Please be careful not to manually refresh the page. - UI Tooltips & Polish: Material Design 3 tooltips, subtle click animations (ripples), and minor visual details are not yet implemented.
- Platform Specifics: While the experience on Windows is highly optimized, the backend experience on macOS and Linux is still undergoing dedicated stability testing, so we won't provide the Linux and macOS distributions right now.
Notes
This is our latest Alpha Version of Ryo. While it is highly usable for core tasks, minor UI bugs or undefined edge-case behaviors might still occur as we continue to refine the application. Your feedback drives our progress! Please report any issues, ideas, or feedback to us in the #bugs-and-ideas channel of Our Official Discord Server. Thank you for growing with us!
Ryo Editor 2025.1116 [Trial Version]
Software Release Notes:
Dear Ryo users,
We are happy to announce that we have released a trial version of Ryo Desktop, a software that allows you to create, edit, and manage your game resources. Ryo Desktop is designed to be simple, intuitive, and powerful, and we hope you will enjoy using it.
How to Use
Open and Save Files
- In the File Menu in the Top Left Corner, you can choose to Create or Open a file
- In the Tree View in left panel, you can see the opened files and the items they contain
- Right-click on a file, you can choose to save it to your disk or close it
View and Edit Items
- In the Tree View, search and click on an Item, you can view and edit it in the Right Panel
- In the Right panel, you can modify the item's value
- After editing, you need to click the Yellow Save Button in the bottom right corner to confirm saving the item
Current Limitations
- You cannot rename, import, export, clone, or delete items within a file yet
- Items can now be added to volumes, and members can be added and removed from arrays, but the new features are not fully localized
- Some UI elements might be "for show only," and some details are not well implemented or not implemented at all: for example, when an item is edited, the tab doesn't show an unsaved indicator, and undo/redo is not implemented; there's also no prompt when a volume is unsaved yet...
Notes
This is a latest Trial Version of Ryo Desktop, there might be potential undefined behavior, error conditions, crashes... Performance might not be great either, but it's getting better and better. Please report any issues or feedback to us in #bugs-and-ideas channel of Our Official Discord Server.
