Hey! We're EXPLORE @ RIT and we're building some pretty cool underwater robots. We bring together students from all kinds of majors because the best ideas come when you mix different perspectives.
We want to be the first robotics club at RIT to actually get out there and do field research in aquatic environments. We're talking about exploring Lake Ontario, studying wildlife, and mapping underwater terrain.
The cool part? We're doing it all with sustainable materials and low-cost parts. Our current project is a boat that streams live camera footage wirelessly. It shows what's possible when you think creatively about environmental monitoring.
🛠️ Right Now: A boat with wireless camera feed that we show off at exhibits. It's built from recycled materials and proves you don't need expensive gear to do real environmental work.
🌊 Next Up: Expanding our range to explore Lake Ontario. We want to map the lake floor and track wildlife populations with our own sustainable underwater robots.
Each build gets better and we're working toward industry-level capabilities while keeping everything accessible and environmentally friendly.
Students: Come build robots with us! No experience needed. You'll work on real research projects and learn everything from coding to environmental science.
Faculty: Working on aquatic research? Let's collaborate! We'd love to learn from you and contribute to serious research.
Industry: Interested in sustainable maritime tech? We'd love to show you what students can do with creative engineering.
