I'm curious what "CF" stands for (carbon flux)? Maybe I missed it. Similarly, "NS"?

Yes, CF is carbon flux (confirmed by the units). I was wondering if this needed to be defined somewhere but it seemed like other chapters were using it similarly without definition. I added text to clarify that CF= carbon flux.
I'm not sure about "NS" - I assume it stands for nitrogen stock? is 'leaf nitrogen content per unit area (NSarea)' clear enough?

Description of changes
Updates to section 2.18 of the Tech Note, Plant Respiration. Includes some updated text, fixed typos/formatting, and updated references/links. Note that there is a table of PFT-specific parameter values in 2.18.1.1 that will need to be updated with the latest values.
Also note that this was branched from master instead of b4b-dev, so it will appear smaller once b4b-dev is merged.
