Plot
Our game opens with our protagonist, trapped in a cruel underground world of slave labour, governed by a fearsome cult which makes the workers dig with their bare hands while they use terrifying powers to terrify the population. The protagonist's only consolation is the companionship of their pet dog. The cult's goal is to gain some new source of ultimate power, yet upon some strange realisation, they set their sights upon the protagonist's canine companion, and decide to dog-nap them. Racing to reclaim their friend, the protagonist discovers a mysterious glowing energy source, and walking closer to touch it, they gain the power to switch their limbs out in place of various tools and body parts. Resolved with a new sense of determination, the player sets out to stop the cult. Chasing them through the mine, the pursuit ends with the cultists escaping through a tear in the very fabric of reality. The player plunges in after them.
On their quest to rescue their dog, the protagonist learns more about the limb switching power from a mysterious person, as yet unnamed, but here titled "Allie". "Allie" warns the protagonist that the cult plans to use the dog as a sacrifice to gain ultimate power. Because that's what dogs do, apparently. The player fights onward, eventually arriving at the fifth world, a dark and twisted place of shadow, controlled by the cult. Their, the protagonist discovers that the leader of the cult is none other than... "Allie"!!!
Dan dan bammm.
Who could possibly have expected such a twist. "Allie" sacrifices your dog and becomes a massive creature of terrifying power. After a fearsome battle to defeat them, the player watches as "Allie" collapses. They beg at first, then, seeing the futility, they laugh and cry out, "Well, at least I took your dog with me." With that, "Allie" collapses and turns to dust.
The game ends with a silhouette of the protagonist walking to dog's grave, pausing for a moment, then walking onward as the credits play.
