FAQs
There is no overlap between TIP and TWP/TWP2, and I recommend that both TIP and TWP2 are installed, as together they will fill most of your transfer needs. TIP handles the transfer to a satellite that is orbiting around the celestial body on which you are currently on, while TWP/TWP2 handles the transfer to a satellite that is orbiting the parent body of the celestial body on which you are currently on. For example, when you're sitting on Earth, TIP will handle the transfer to a satellite in orbit of Earth, and TWP/TWP2 will handle the transfer to a satellite in orbit of the Sun.
The reference time switches numerous different mechanics between using the Launch Now window, the Next Launch Window, and the Extra Launch Window. These mechanics include:
- The delta-V
- The launch inclination/azimuth
- The parking orbit in the map view
- The phasing angle in the map view
- The transfer orbit in the map view
- The maximum flight time
Usually, it is possible to launch into your target launch azimuth/inclination twice a day, but if the absolute value of your latitude is lower than the inclination of your target, this is not always true. If you turn on the "Find the Global Minimum error instead of the Local Minimum..." setting, it will instead find the next window that is as close as possible to your target launch azimuth/inclination. Keep in mind that depending on how close you are to the equator, this launch time could be several weeks away.
