This workshop is designed to provide an understanding of High-Performance Computing (HPC) concepts and practices, specifically tailored for users of the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) facilities. Participants will gain hands-on experience with HPC systems, job scheduling, parallel computing, and performance optimization.
We will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to NCI:
- Overview of NCI facilities and resources
- Accessing NCI systems
- NCI user environment and modules
- Job scheduling with PBS Pro
- Nextflow:
- Introduction to Nextflow
- Setting up and running Nextflow pipelines on NCI
- Best practices for workflow management
- Containers:
- Basic concepts of containers
- Using Singularity on HPC
Pre-requisites:
- Familiarity with HPC concepts
- Basic knowledge of Linux command line
- Experience with job scheduling systems (e.g., PBS, SLURM)
