Responsible AI assisted Software Engineering
This is an effort, similar to The Agile Manifesto (https://agilemanifesto.org/) to provide a community derived framework for utilizing AI in the software development process.
Who is RAISE for: RAISE is meant to be a guide for anyone using AI to assist in building software applications. RAISE is even more relevent to individuals collaborating with others to build software and/or building software that others have some reliance and trust in.
RAISE is a community framework built on Transparency, Intent, and Empathy. We believe that if you commit code, you, not the AI, are the author. You bear full responsibility for its effects on the system and your teammates.
Premise: The current landscape of software development in late 2025 is defined by a polarization between "AI bans" (projects rejecting all AI contributions due to quality or copy right concerns) and "Vibe Coding" (uncritical acceptance of AI outputs). Research from mid-to-late 2025 highlights a phenomenon known as "The Quality Floor Collapse."
RAISE defines a set of principles to find a viable, effective middle ground.
