Since there is a bunch of issues open in the repository, seems ignored, and last commit being 2y ago, I found a new solution.

which is gracefully finish the app, instead of kill the process

Hi! I also built react-native-app-control as a simple drop-in: Exit & Restart functions for Android and iOS, old & new arch (on iOS, restart just quits with a popup).
Made for my own needs, but grab it / PR if it helps you, or just npm i react-native-app-control. Hope it helps!

btw, BackHandler also exposes an exit-app function

if your use case is to just trigger exit, a lib is not required :)
