Unable to use ares-install on any app on new LG TV running WebOS 23

This callback error: "verb uncaughtException Error: Callback was already called." is what I get no matter what (reinstalled and installed npm of the correct version, reinstalled the CLI)

The version the TV is running:

I'm attempting to try the example project: https://github.com/webOS-TV-app-samples/HelloWorldService

And trying to install it on the TV running developer mode with the key server active. It doesn't matter what I try to do but installing from ares CLI doesn't work. I've tried multiple example and non-example apps that were previously working.

I wish I did. I'm still struggling with this issue and had to switch to a windows machine to make progress on my app.

very frustrating. In the past I had to switch to linux/windows just for this and hoped they fixed it or myself with a clean install of the mac and required tools.

I came upon this issue while troubleshooting something similar. I was able to workaround by downgrading my local nodejs installation to v16.

I didn't run into the same error but definitely avoid recent node versions.

Had success with node v23.4.0 but had to manually update the ssh2 dependency to 1.16.0.

The tools are likely out of date and aren't working with current node versions. A useful tool here is nvm. I tried Node 16 per @eyablonowitz and had success:

nvm install 16
nvm use 16
npm install -g @webos-tools/cli

Then do your commands in the same terminal session.

(You may also want to uninstall the CLI from your default Node environment first, but leaving that optional.)

Confirmed installing 16 worked for me. I didn't uninstall the CLI from my previous node version (23.x.x) btw

node 24 gave me the error:

Last night I noticed sideload failures begin to occur on a couple televisions I have. I've tried using Node 16, 22, 24 and always get the same error. I'm running the latest CLI version with Node 16.20.2 as recommended in the LG forums.
