model generation always gets stuck at 15/30%

As per title when i get to the final step of generating a model the progress bar gets stuck between 15 and 30%. I have tried different setting, different resolutions and formats: tiff does not seem to be recognised any way i export it from photoshop so i've tried png and jpg but for obvious reasons they both have noticeable quality losses.
The process always gets stuck when i hit create 3d model. I'm unsure how i can provide logs or more info. I'm using 4 filaments and 16 colours.

edit / i just needed to wait, it's been a few hours and seems to have advanced to 60%. perhaps the image is (still) too large?

Is this something that has appeared in the new version 2.5.0?

One thing that I'm noticing is that your image is very big, which might be the cause for the model generation taking forever. You're also using the exhaustive algorithm is the most compute intensive algorithm which might be part of the cause for this.

Trying myself I managed to get the following results:

1. I first reduced the color palette to 16 colors using these settings in the 2D Mode

2. Then to reduce the complexity of the 3D model (a lot of detail is lost during 3D printing anyways), I applied the dedithering option as follows:

I did 10 passes because the image is pretty big and has lots of small details, you can do less passes if you prefer.

The image looks like this after applying these steps:

It went from 6.7MB to 2.3MB on my end, which is still a lot, but its better.

3. I went into the 3D mode and applied these settings:

Because the image is still pretty big, I get a warning that it might take a long time:

This also means it's going to take a lot of memory to export unfortunately, which might cause out of memory errors in the browser (if you use the desktop version, you will have less of a problem, but it's still going to take a lot of memory in this version).

Another way to help with the memory usage is to adjust the pixel size, which in turn will make the model bigger/smaller.

The 3D model took a few seconds to build but the result looks like this:

But of course, at 0.08mm layer height it will take much longer to print.

Update: Upon reaching the final step of exporting the 3MF, I realized there are some issues that need to be resolved. It seems that Kromacut can't handle very large images right now, so I started the process again from the beginning but this time, I first used an online tool to compress your original image from 6.7MB to 1.6MB, and then further resize it to 1944x1458p (50% smaller resolution) finally reducing it to 276KB.

After this I applied the steps above once again (except for dedithering, I did 5 passes instead of 10 because the image is now a smaller resolution).

And this is the final final result:

As for the the discord link, it seems to be working on my end, this is the link, perhaps you have a popup blocker extension that prevents the link from being opened.

hi, thank you for coming back to me right away!
i had 3 kromacut instances running with different settings and after a couple of hrs the 2mb one managed to render but as you saw it crashed upon export (this also crashed the other 2 instances, unsure if it might be something to look into)

i am running a ryzen 59800hs laptop with 24gb of ram which is no battlestation but no slouch either and i have not seen any bottlenecks in ram nor cpu weirdly. The fact it took you "a few seconds" to render makes me think i might be doing some processing wrong on my end

i'll try with a lower res but was hoping to get as good quality as possible no matter printing time or processing (i could let it run overnight). I plan on printing this fairly big with a 0.2 nozzle so the more details the better

ps: i noticed a EBWebView\Speech Recognition folder with Microsoft.CognitiveServices.Speech.core.dll inside, i assume it ships with edge webview?

Yea for me it took a few seconds to generate the 3d model, but the export still took a long time/crashed. So I'm definitely going to address this in the future version, as I was already working on some issues regarding the meshing.

My PC is more powerful, so it's hard for me to catch performance bugs, so this helps a lot. (I have a Ryzen 9 5950x + 128gb ram)

Also yes, the desktop app uses webview.
