This is a Windows-specific behavior.

On Windows, crossterm may emit multiple KeyEvents for a single physical key press (Press + Release).
If all KeyEvents are handled equally, characters will be inserted twice.

On Unix-like systems (macOS/Linux), PTY input usually produces a single event (Press), so this issue does not appear.

Solution:
On Windows, ignore Release events and handle only Press events.

All you need is to add code for ignoring these events key.kind == KeyEventKind::Release

Filtering KeyEvents should be done at the application input layer, not inside ratatui-code-editor itself.
