Official release status? (Recent dependency updates & Video.js v10 roadmap) #1755

Hi @mihar-22, I’ve noticed some great activity in the repo recently - specifically several bug fixes and dependency version bumps. It’s awesome to see the codebase staying fresh! We're currently looking at using Vidstack as a base for our project video player, but we're mindful of the recent announcement regarding Vidstack, Media Chrome, and Plyr merging forces to build Video.js v10. Since the Video.js v10 Beta is slated for March 2026 and GA for mid-year, I was wondering:
Having a "stable" tagged release with the latest dependency updates would be a huge help in unblocking our usage of the player while we wait for the v10 ecosystem to mature. Thanks for all the hard work on this! |

Hey, @SerhiiVirstiukZemingo! Appreciate the question. I'm trying to do a better job on staying on top of PRs and merging them in. It takes time as I have to run simple checks and validate they work. Some of the embed things can take time because they're flaky unfortunately. At the moment we're in deep on Video.js v10 as you know so it's eating up a lot of my time. That said, I haven't done a great job staying on top of maintenance of Vidstack which I'm not happy about. Sorry. To answers your questions specifically:
Yes, this week! Likely end of week as there's a lot going on with work and personal. I was running into some type issues when attempting to release which I have to fix.
I won't be able to personally commit to maintenance but I'll continue to merge PRs. If it feels regular enough then I can commit to a more frequent release schedule. Hope that answers your questions! I'll add that with Video.js v10 Beta around the corner, we'd love your feedback. I'm over there eagerly listening. Beta would be a good time to give it a shot but it won't be feature complete. It's timed to drop early next week. If there's things you love/hate about Vidstack please let us know in discussions over in https://github.com/videojs/v10. It'll help me take it to the team and discuss. Thanks :) |
