Thanks for raising this.
I'll look into it in the foreseeable future, which will likely involve a major version bump for me as well.
As I don't want to maintain parallel versions, I will see what other pending topics I can resolve first, before taking this step, though.
The actual migration guide appears to be still in progress, but it looks to be manageable so far.

1. The Jackson jsonSchema module is end of life with Jackson 3, and Victools is the de facto Java library for JSON Schema
2. Spring Boot 4 will be released shortly with Jackson 3 support

I would say that there is a strong reason to migrate to Jackson 3 leaving behind the old version of Victools as is. Open Rewrite (https://docs.openrewrite.org/recipes/java/jackson) makes it a relatively painless process to migrate.

@CarstenWickner now that the Jackson 3 support is on main it would be good if we can plan a release with it. Then Spring AI can start using the new version in the upcoming Spring AI 2.0.

Indeed, I have already a draft PR for Spring AI 2.0 support for Jackson 3.0 and I would need such release to be able to submit my PR.

One question I have is : do you plan to rename com.github.victools.jsonschema.module.jackson.JacksonModule to avoid the clash and the need to use fully qualified types since Jackson is now using this class name ?

Would it be possible to get Jackson 3 support in an M1 or RC1 release?
I lead the Spring AI project, and we use the jsonschema-generator. Our upcoming 2.0.0 release aligns with Spring Framework 7 and Spring Boot 4, which means we're moving to Jackson 3. Having even a milestone release with Jackson 3 support would allow us to integrate and test early, which would be very helpful for our release timeline.
We understand this would be a pre-release version and are comfortable with that. Any timeline insights would be appreciated for our planning.

I'm currently not in reach of my device where I usually do the release from. Returning in ten days, so could do it on the weekend after next.

Just as a quick status update here:

• My last release (ten months ago) was apparently just before the OSSRH publishing method was shutdown (https://central.sonatype.org/pages/ossrh-eol/).
• I believe to have successfully migrated my publishing process to the alternative Central Publishing now.
• However, the com.github.victools namespace is not associated with me yet, so I was not allowed to publish my 5.0.0 release yet.
• I've reached out to the "Central Support" team to claim the namespace again, so I can complete the publishing.
• Unfortunately, I cannot tell how long this will take now.

I'm happy to announce, the v5.0.0 release has been published successfully.
It's visible already here and will presumably be propagated to other Maven repositories within the next 24h.

Apparently, I was simply using the wrong credentials to perform the publishing. Central Support was quick and helpful in pointing that out. 😄
