I just wanted to know what the actual status of this project is?
I think this project should have a much higher priority!
The fact that creating lilypond files is a one-way ticket might the biggest issue to hinder a widespread adoption.
I'd be happy to help, but my knowledge for your technology stack is minimal and it would be a huge effort for me to get started. Unfortunately I don't think I have enough spare time for this.

The current state of this project is that Peter Bjuhr has done quite a lot of work, but he does this within Frescobaldi development.

I agree with you that it should get higher priority, and there's a quite simple and obvious way to achieve that: find people so that Peter doesn't have to do it all alone. Maybe there's something in the pipeline towards this, but I can't say for sure yet.
