Allow pages to start open (Feature Request)

It would be useful if there was a global option to start all pages with the headers open by default, and users could close them as they like.

Another related feature could be something like "~~~startopen~~~" and "~~~startclosed~~~" which would make the specific page start opened/closed, but again, the headers would still toggle.

I believe so. I don't see how to turn all the pages on by default or how to have the page author turn all the headers on/off on a per-page basis. Am I missing something?

The toggle buttons work fine for my pages, but others use the wiki. Let me give you background then you ever wanted :)

We're using dokuwiki for an internal company project. The inital wiki was just vanilla dokuwiki. I've moved it to a new server and updated the server and included sectiontoggle on the wiki.

I'm getting push back from some of the other users of the wiki because it's different and, to be fair, some folks just prefer the pages to start open. I think it would ease the pain of transition if globally it could be configured to start with the pages open while still having the sectiontoggle feature.

Allowing it to be set per page would just be a nice touch.

We need this feature too!

I cannot find a way to accomplish it in the documentation… maybe you could give another hint if it‘s already possible, even if only on a per page basis?

On desktop browsers (for our needs all browsers including mobile ones would be also o.k.) all sections should be opened per default. Users can then close sections that are not relevant for them which helps them finding the needed information and focus on it.

Maybe the behavior should also be controllable via config option.

You have to set the start-open configuration option in sectiontoggle to true. Then clear your browser cache and you may have to refresh the wiki cache.

Thank you! That looks good and is fine for our purposes. I will let you know if any issues occur in the next days.

Maybe some people want it to start open on desktop and closed on mobile but for us thats not necessary.

I have found one issue that might be related to our template readthedokus.
There is one single page where the headers are not converted to toggles with the following error. The strange thing is that all other pages seem to work.

Do you have a hint for me?

I can't really tell from the error data. It could be some kind of conflict with the plugin and the template.

It is related to start-open or open_all function. If I disable start-open in the config, the headings are converted to toggles again.

I will check tomorrow if it is the same problem for the open all button. But it‘s strange that all other pages that I‘ve checked seem to work.

Try this: Set the sectiontoggle»xcl_pg configuration setting to the id of the faulty page, as described in the config setting description. It will also require clearing the browser and wiki caches. It may take a few logouts and logins.

Ok, I will try. But does't that disable the toggles on the page completely?
