Description
Overview
This epic tracks a series of blog posts about BitTorrent Chain (BTTC) - an EVM-compatible, proof-of-stake Layer-2 blockchain designed for cross-chain interoperability and scaling. Created by the TRON Foundation and BitTorrent teams, BTTC connects blockchains like TRON, Ethereum, and BNB Chain, while also powering the BitTorrent ecosystem with its native BTT token.
The series aims to educate our community about this blockchain technology and how it integrates with the BitTorrent protocol they know and use, particularly through incentivizing file sharing and enabling new use cases.

Planned Blog Posts
1. Introduction to BitTorrent Chain: Blockchain Meets BitTorrent
An introductory article explaining what BitTorrent Chain is and how it connects blockchain technology with the BitTorrent ecosystem. This article will cover:
- What is BitTorrent Chain (BTTC) and how it works
- The three-tier architecture (Root Contracts Layer, Delivery Layer, BTTC Layer)
- Cross-chain interoperability: bridging assets between TRON, Ethereum, and BNB Chain
- The BTT token: what it is and what it's used for
- BitTorrent's evolution from peer-to-peer file sharing to blockchain integration
- Key ecosystem components: BTTC Bridge, Staking, Converter, and Wallet
- Use cases: incentivizing seeders, DeFi applications, legal tender status
- Why this matters for BitTorrent users and the broader crypto ecosystem
2. BitTorrent Speed: Earn and Spend BTT Tokens for Faster Downloads
A practical guide on setting up and using BitTorrent Speed to incentivize file sharing with BTT tokens. This article will cover:
- What is BitTorrent Speed and how it works
- How users can earn BTT by seeding files
- How users can spend BTT to get faster download speeds
- Step-by-step setup guide for BitTorrent clients with Speed integration
- Configuring the integrated BitTorrent wallet
- Real-world examples and use cases
- Benefits for seeders and leechers in the network
- Tips for maximizing earnings and download performance
3. How to Buy BTT Tokens: A Comprehensive Guide
A beginner-friendly guide on acquiring BTT tokens to use with BitTorrent Speed and other ecosystem applications. This article will cover:
- Overview of BTT token and why you might need it
- List of exchanges where BTT can be purchased (centralized and decentralized)
- Step-by-step buying guides for different platforms
- Payment methods available (crypto-to-crypto, fiat-to-crypto)
- How to transfer BTT to your BitTorrent wallet
- Security considerations when buying and storing tokens
- Price considerations and where to track BTT value
- Alternative methods to acquire BTT (earning through seeding)
Note on Article Structure
Posts 2 and 3 could potentially be merged into a single comprehensive guide ("Getting Started with BitTorrent Speed: Setup and Buying BTT"). However, keeping them separate may provide better structure:
- Post 2 focuses on the user experience and technical setup
- Post 3 focuses on the financial/acquisition aspect
This separation allows readers who already have BTT to skip directly to setup, and those who have the client set up to focus only on acquiring tokens.
Future Expansion
As the series develops, we could explore advanced topics such as:
- Web3 storage projects leveraging BitTorrent technology
- BitTorrent File System (BTFS) for decentralized storage
- DeFi opportunities with BTT (staking, lending, collateral)
- TRON zkEVM integration and future developments
- Comparison with other decentralized storage solutions (IPFS, Filecoin, Arweave)
These topics would target more technical readers and developers interested in building on the BitTorrent ecosystem.
Notes
Each blog post in this series will be tracked as a sub-issue under this epic. Sub-issues will be created as we prepare to write and publish each article.
