Hello, thank you for your message. I took some time to analyze the issue in depth. The complexity is there, but it would be even more complex to then allow restores by taking the backups from the remote PBS path. All this huge amount of work could make sense if there were not a quick alternative, which is precisely to manually mount a folder from the remote server. |

When using Proxsave on a PVE it would be very nice to use an already connected PBS as the secondary backup location - you know, where all the backups from the PVE go anyway.
Right now, the documentation only speaks of paths to /mnt/whatever, but since a connected PBS does not show at /mnt I am not sure how to work around this problem. Would SSHFS be the easiest solution to mounting a PBS datastore in PVE for Proxsave?
A similar issue (#38) was raised a few months ago (and speaks of interesting things like "Automatic detection of datastores from PBS and PVE systems" in the backup.env), but the solution presented was still only a workaround with manually mounting - although a PBS exists and is connected.
