Latest MagicMac snapshot (January 2026) returns "No more internal storage..." error message in Kobold TreeCheck

After a long time not using my old Atari, I installed the latest MagicMac snapshot from 2026/01/13, on my Atari TT.
During a comprehensive file comparison of two partitions with TreeCheck 3.01 from the Kobold 3.51 package, I got the following error message:

Kein interner Speicher mehr:
ADDMEM.PRG benutzen!
System angehalten

I tried more snapshots (always clean install on an empty partition!) and found that this happens with all snapshots after July 3, 2025!
Reminded me a bit of the old TOS 1.02 days.

I only have tree_chk.prg 3.0, 40714 Bytes (german version), and i don't get such an error. Are you using a different version?

Could you provide a protocol file from running tree_chk?

My version is tree_chk.prg 3.01, 40484 (german). Logfile from tree_chk is not written because system is halted due to error.

Ok, did run the update program, now i have tree_chk 3.01.

Still don't get that error:

I get this error at about 700-800 checked files! My test was to copy ~1600 Files from one Partition to another with Kobold.prg (Making a backup of one partition). Then i checked the copy operation with tree_chk and get the error at 700-800 checked files. With addmem.prg the limit increases.

I still don't get that error, comparing a directory of 3112 files...

Does that also happen when you run tree_chk just after boot?

Yes, this also happens immediately after booting Magicmac without prior Kobold use!

Strange! It must be due to magic.ram. When I replace the latest version of magic.ram from February 15, 2026 with the one from July 3, 2025 (or older), the error does not occur. So there must have been some change (possibly Gemdos routines?).

There was a change to support drive letters '1'..'6', but i doubt that this has anything to do with it, as long as you don't use such drive letters.

I also tested it both with Aranym (which uses the same magic.ram as on real hw) and MagicOnLinux, and i don't get that error there, comparing about 1700 files. Main difference is that i have configured about 96MB of TT-RAM .

For my tests, I am using a real TT030 with 4 MB ST RAM, 64 MB Fast RAM, and TOS 3.06. Partitions are located on BlueSCSI devices (external and internal). I also tested it on my Falcon030 with 14 MB RAM and an IDE drive. The error pattern was exactly the same. Only the “No more internal memory” message appeared a bit earlier.
