auth is broken on firefox - redirect loop

Authenticating in firefox results in a redirect loop and a CORS blocked warning to auth.firebase

It's looking like it may be a good idea to do auth before anything else, most likely through a "click to login" . The redirect vs. pop-up strategies behave differently on different browsers and the flow is pretty inconsistent usually resulting in a couple of re-loads.
