Description
What
- Identify and remove overlapping parcel polygons from map and charts / stats
- Get stats and citations for following statements:
- "To date, PGL has already spent approximately $3.4 billion to replace 18% of Chicago's pipes"-
- "Distribution mains replaced 2011-2023: 865 miles of mains (cast iron and ductile iron, and low pressure) or 37% of the of the total it wishes to replace as of 2011 (2,371 miles). Spending from 2014-2023: $2.6 billion or $294 million per year" (source) They have 4,678 miles of total pipeline
- Show your work :
- Divide the 865 miles of main figure by 4,678 miles of total pipeline to get 18%
- The costs figure starts in 2014 but the miles replaced starts in 2011. I took the total spending figure, $2.6 billion and added
3 * avg annual spendingto estimate the missing 3 years for a total of $3.48B
- "And they have been ordered to replace the remaining pipes by the of 2035, which represent 32% of Chicago's pips, at a cost of $7.5 B."
- "To date, PGL has already spent approximately $3.4 billion to replace 18% of Chicago's pipes"-
- According to PGL’s April 2024 filing, an additional $7.5 billion is required to complete the program. (source). Main miles remaining to be replaced: 1,499 miles of mains, of which 1,112 are cast and ductile iron (CI/DI) and 385 are low-pressure plastic or steel main. Assuming double decking is used, these replacements would result in the installation of 2,120 miles of main." (source)
- What percent of all the pipes in Chicago were cast iron and ductile iron before 2011, when they started replacing them?
- What percent of those CI/DI pipes have been replaced?
- What percent is still to be replaced?
- In their order requiring the NPA workshop, what rationale (if any) did the ICC give for why PGL ought to do NPAs?
- Lower costs: Is it to fix leaks at lower cost?
- Avoiding gas investment: is it to avoid adding to the gas rate base / creating stranded assets?
- Advancing electrification: is it to advance electrification?
- In their order requiring the NPA workshop, what goal (if any) did the ICC give for why PGL ought to do NPAs?
- Is there any language around trying to minimize PRP spending, or maximizing heat pump installs?
- What legally-binding emissions reduction targets exist in IL, for the economy as a whole? For the building sector?
- il_gh2 report probably has figures and sources
- "To provide the highest quality of life for the residents of Illinois and to provide for a clean and healthy environment, it is the policy of this State to rapidly transition to 100% clean energy by 2050" source
- Need a fact fec
- the TE vs. regular PRP histogram should have the same x-axis range (0%-350%) as the PRP+scattered histogram
- a 50% more opacity on the scattershot please
- 1-3 paragraphs on each data source
- PRP miles column chart - everything is gray, and remaining PRP miles lists ALL the miles
- PRP miles column chart - one where what is currently in blue + yellow (i.e. the miles in planned projects) are colored in the same light blue that the projects currently are on felt, and the # of miles for "Planned PRP project miles" and "Remaining PRP miles" are accurate
- a new map layer that includes all blocks that we originally ruled to be "within a project" and then we need to color the fully residential ones dark blue, and the mixed ones light yellow
