Hello Sunnah.com API Team,
My name is Hady Ahmed, Email[prohadyforgithub@gmail.com], and I am the developer of an Islamic educational website currently under development.
The website contains a large collection of Prophetic hadiths (over 10,000 hadiths), which are already stored locally in our database. Our goal is not to generate or infer rulings automatically, but rather to retrieve and display existing scholarly gradings of hadiths (such as Sahih, Hasan, Da‘if), explicitly attributed to their respective scholars and original sources.
Purpose of using the API:
We intend to use the Sunnah.com API to:
- Retrieve authenticated hadith metadata and grading information where available
- Display scholarly rulings with proper attribution (e.g., scholar name and reference)
- Help users understand differences in grading without asserting a single definitive ruling
This project is strictly educational and non-commercial, and we take great care to follow correct academic and scholarly standards in hadith sciences.
API usage expectations:
- Moderate request volume
- Server-side usage only (no direct client exposure)
- Caching will be implemented to minimize repeated requests
Preferred access method:
If possible, programmatic API access would be ideal. However, we are also open to receiving an offline data snapshot if that is more appropriate for your infrastructure or policies.
Languages needed:
- Arabic (primary)
- English (secondary, if available)
Technology stack:
- Backend: Node.js (Express)
- Database: PostgreSQL / MySQL
We greatly respect the work Sunnah.com has done in preserving and presenting authentic hadith collections, and we are committed to using the data responsibly and transparently.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Kind regards,
Hady Ahmed
