I am requesting API access for Islamic Nexus (https://islamicnexus.org), a comprehensive Islamic learning platform that serves the Muslim community with authentic Quranic and Hadith resources.

Purpose: Provide Muslims worldwide with access to authentic hadith collections alongside Quranic study tools
Tech Stack: Next.js 15, PostgreSQL, TypeScript, Prisma ORM

API Usage Intent
We would like to integrate 8 additional hadith collections from Sunnah.com to complement our existing collection:
- Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal (~27,000 hadiths) - Largest collection by Imam Ahmad
- Sunan ad-Darimi (~3,500 hadiths) - Early jurisprudential collection
- Riyad as-Salihin (~1,900 hadiths) - Spiritual and moral guidance
- Al-Adab Al-Mufrad (~1,300 hadiths) - Islamic manners and etiquette
- Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah (~400 hadiths) - Description of the Prophet ﷺ
- Mishkat al-Masabih (~6,000 hadiths) - Comprehensive topical collection
- Bulugh al-Maram (~1,500 hadiths) - Jurisprudential hadiths
- Hisn al-Muslim (~280 supplications) - Daily duas and remembrances
Current Status
We have already integrated 10 hadith collections from the fawazahmed0 CDN (the Six Books + Muwatta Malik + Forty Hadiths collections). The Sunnah.com API would allow us to complete our collection with these essential works that are not available via CDN.
Expected Usage
- Initial Import: One-time bulk import of all 8 collections
- Updates: Occasional updates to sync with any corrections or additions
- Volume: ~42,000 hadiths total across the 8 collections
- Frequency: Limited to initial import + monthly/quarterly updates
- Rate Limiting: We will implement proper rate limiting and caching to minimize API calls
Technical Implementation
- We have already developed the import infrastructure (
import-hadith-sunnah.ts)
- Built-in retry logic and error handling
- Configurable rate limiting (default: 100ms between requests)
- Batch processing with progress tracking
- Dry-run mode for testing

- API key will be stored securely in environment variables
- We commit to following all API usage guidelines and terms of service
