Description of Feature:
Source coop provides us a unified, vendor agnostic platform over commercial S3 providers. It would be lovely for other S3 providers, such as university or government S3 platforms, to expose data via the soure.coop.
What value is this feature adding to Source Cooperative?
This aligns with source.coop's core value propositions of a uniform layer over multiple providers. It could also open the door to additional financial models, i.e. a federated provider distributes the storage and bandwidth costs onto that provider.
Additional context
Our academic based team makes heavy use of the https://nrp.ai platform with its Ceph-based S3 storage. Offering S3-api based object stores is increasingly ubiquitous offering of other compute clusters (universities, federal research labs, etc)
